It’s ok to be afraid, but because of Jesus, you can overcome any fear. His Perfect Love can cast out all fear, insecurity, and shame.
IMPACT CARD
Reading: Exodus 3
Discussion Questions:
Put yourself in Moses’ sandals. Discuss the complexity of Moses growing up in Pharaoh’s house, while also being a Hebrew man.
Read Exodus 3:1-12. Why is Moses afraid? What is his insecurity? How do you think you would have responded in that same situation? What does God say to Moses, in response to his fear and insecurity?
In the message, we talked about “The Perfectionism Spiral”: (1) Try something new. (2) Make a mistake. (3) You say, “I’ll never do that again.” (4) Then your comfort zone gets smaller. Often, this spiral continues until, before you know it, you are stifled by all your fear and insecurity. Do you see yourself in that spiral? What is that like for you?
Here are some of common fears: Fear of failure, fear of other people’s opinions, fear of not being good enough, fear of missing out, fear of the future. Do you struggle with any of these? How can vulnerability, confession, and receiving the Holy Spirit help you overcome these fears?
